Fetal Lite is a next generation wireless fetal monitoring system, based on fetal ECG signal extraction technology and advanced digital tools. This technology is superior, in terms of accuracy, reliability and ease of use, to conventional doppler-based fetal monitor systems. 

Post 36 weeks, Fetal Lite uses a single probe to measure FHR, Maternal HR and uterine contractions, and can be used with minimal training. Fetal Lite also incorporates remote data access and monitoring. The device also includes a wireless, doppler-based probe for fetal heart rate monitoring between 24 and 36 weeks of gestation. 

Fetal Lite has a number of advantages compared to existing systems. The current fetal monitoring technology used to detect fetal distress is the Non-Stress Test & Cardiotocography. This device uses doppler and pressure sensors to measure fetal heart rate and uterine contractions, but has certain limitations.

It is bulky and electricity dependent.  The device needs an obstetrician or skilled nurse to locate the fetal heart and place probes appropriately. Also, data quality is variable, as probes can slip off due to maternal motion or lose signal due to changes in fetal position. Fetal Lite’s ECG-extraction based technology addresses these limitations with a single, easy to use, comfortable probe. In addition, Fetal Lite incorporates a range of digital tools to augment clinical capacity, including scan storage, remote data access, and automatic fetal distress detection.
