Through this project, 300+ Saans devices were deployed across 30+ hospitals in Assam, covering all NICUs in the State Government health system. Data collected from the treatment of over 3000 neonates showed major quarter to quarter improvement in rate of successful discharge, and reduction in referrals and mortality. Furthermore, a pre-post analysis has shown a significant reduction in hospital mortality, demonstrating Saans’ impact potential in public health deployments. This project was featured as an Infosys Foundation Story (Link: https://www.infosys.com/infosys-stories/nurturing-our-people/breathing-life-neonatal-healthcare.html).

Current state: Kothagudem is a small district on the shared border of Telangana and Chhattisgarh states of India. As these tribal habitations are located in remote, hilly areas with poor road networks, the majority of deliveries occur in the habitations only, without any pregnancy monitoring

Intervention: InnAccel collaborated with the Indigenous Development Organization (I-DO), an NGO working with the tribal community, to install Fetal Lite in Mobile Medical Units (MMU), to provide healthcare services free of cost to the last mile. MMU covers a tribal population of 2300 members in 18 villages. One physician, along with a midwife was also allotted to the MMU to support the initiative.

Impact: Fetal lite has been used for 300+ scans so far, primarily done by midwives, detecting 12 cases of fetal distress, which prompted the patients to be shifted to Hyderabad, potentially saving the lives of babies. So far, with the use of Fetal Lite, 150 successful deliveries have happened without a single casualty

When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, there were widespread efforts to build low-cost ventilators to ease India’s shortage of respiratory support devices. InnAccel, however, felt that non-invasive ventilation would be greater need. Leveraging our Saans platform, and with critical development funding from ACT, we developed Saans Pro, an HFNC + CPAP system for adults, as well as the Saans CPAP Helmet. Over the course of 18 months, over 600 Saans Pro devices and 6000 Helmets were deployed to 60+ Government hospitals and Covid centers across India, with the majority of these being generously donated by ACT and the American India Foundation (AIF). These devices treated thousands of patients, and we are proud to have been able to contribute to India’s pandemic response.

Royal Academy of Engineering (Innovation Leaders of Advance 2024)

The Government Of India has granted InnAccel a patent for our proprietary medical electrode technology used in Fetal Lite, our next-gen AI-powered fetal monitoring system

Infosys Foundation Karnataka Project Launch

InnAccel’s Fetal Lite Featured in BMGF Goalkeepers event as a Transformative Innovative Technologies that can help save 1000 lives a day

2024 (Award): Winner of MIT Solve Global Innovation Challenge in the Global Health Equity category

2024(Award): J&J Health Equity Award from the Johnson & Johnson Foundation

2024 (Award): NATHEALTH Impact Awards- Healthcare Innovations Category

2022: Inclusion in 2022 World Health Organisation Compendium of Innovative 2022 (Grant): USAID (IPE Samridh) grant for state-wide SAANS deployment in Assam

2022 (Grant): BIRAC Product Commercialization Program Fund (PCP) Grant Awardee
